Communication (Among the Brethren) -tf

1st Timothy 6:17-19 ". . . be rich in good works . . . willing to communicate. . . ."

(If we must be taught to be "willing" to do a thing, it is because that thing is difficult or unpleasant.)

It Does Not Come Naturally:

Proverbs 16:23 "The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips."

15:28 "The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things."

The Desired Results:

10:11 "The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life. . . ." (You can get something from a well!)

15:4 "A wholesome tongue is a tree of life. . . ." (You can get something from a tree!)

25:11 "A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver."

See: John 20:1-16 "Jesus saith unto her, Mary."

Matthew 22:29 "Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God."

Proverbs 15:23 "A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!"

See: Matthew 15:21-27 "And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table."

James 1:19-20, 26 ". . . let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath. . . ."

See: John 20:24-25 "Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails . . . I will not believe."

Proverbs 29:20 "Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him."

26:17 "He that passeth by, and meddleth with strife belonging not to him, is like one that taketh a dog by the ears."
