The Ten Commandments -tf

To the modern liberal the commandments are always "old testament," "done away with" and "given for the Jews." On the other hand, for example, the "idol shepherds" in the false churches universally and rabidly argue that tithing remains solidly in force, although it was only given as an old testament ordinance to the Jews, for the support of the priest tribe of Levi, and then DISANNULLED in the new testament. (Hebrews 7:5,18) What does this mean? [The word of God is like X-ray vision into a man's heart. (Hebrews 4:12)]

"Well, men wrote the bible. God never actually wrote anything himself."

Exodus 24:12 "And the Lord said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them."

31:12,18 "And [the Lord] gave unto Moses . . . two tables of testimony . . . written with the finger of God."

32:16 "And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables."

Deuteronomy 4:1-13 ". . . and he wrote them upon two tables of stone." (This is where the expression comes from.)

5:22 "These words the Lord spake . . . and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone. . . ."

10:1-4 (and also the second time)

(also in Exodus 34:1)

John 8:1-8 ". . . Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground. . . ." (The Lord writes in stone, dirt, . . .)

Hebrews 10:16 "I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them. . . ." (and minds.)

Romans 7:22 --8:7 "For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But . . . the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be."

IN THE OLD TESTAMENT

Psalm 111:10 "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever."

Proverbs 10:8 "The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall."

19:16 "He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die."

Deuteronomy 5:22-29 "O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always. . . ." (The problem is a HEART condition.)

11:22-28 Commandments -- "a blessing and a curse"

13:1-5 Commandments vs. signs and wonders

2nd Chronicles 24:20-21

OPINION: "The fourth commandment is ceremonial [whatever that's supposed to mean] and isn't to be kept now."

Deuteronomy 4:2 "Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you."

8:1-2 "All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do. . . ."

Psalm 111:7 ". . . all his commandments are sure." (Most "Christians" opt for about seven out of ten.)

119:6 "Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments."

v. 86 "All thy commandments are faithful. . . ."

v. 151 "Thou art near, O Lord; and all thy commandments are truth."

v. 172 "My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness."

v. 10 "With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments."

(The commandment question hinges on a heart condition.)

v. 32 "I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart."

v. 19 "I am a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me." (David is supposed to be a "stranger" here!)

(Hebrews 11:8-13 "These all . . . confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.")

(1st Peter 2:11 "Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims. . . .")

v. 21 "Thou hast rebuked the proud that are cursed, which do err from thy commandments."

v. 47 "And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved."

v. 48 "My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved. . . ."

(Most folks would say this is going a little too far. The Lord does not agree with them!)

(v. 57 "Thou art my portion, O Lord: I have said that I would keep thy words.")

v. 60 "I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments."

v. 66 "Teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed thy commandments."

126-127 "It is time for thee, Lord, to work: for they have made void thy law. Therefore I love thy commandments. . . ."

v. 131 "I opened my mouth, and panted: for I longed for thy commandments." (Praise the Lord, Dave!)

v. 143 "Trouble and anguish have taken hold on me: yet thy commandments are my delights."

v. 176 "I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments."

IN THE NEW TESTAMENT

F Matthew 5:17-19 "Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven."

F 15:7-9 "But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men."

19:17 ". . . but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments."

22:34-40 "On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."

[Neither one of these two commandments is "NEW TESTAMENT." The first one was given in Deuteronomy 6:5 and the second was given in Leviticus 19:18]

(The first sums up 1-4 of the ten commandments, and the second sums up 5-10.)

(also in Mark 12:28-31)

Mark 7:5-13 "Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition."

(See how the Lord knew exactly what your problem was? You never needed to "go to the Greek" to figure this out.)

10:17-19 [The last 6 of the 10 are here referenced.] (These are only commandments concerning men with men.)

Luke 18:18-20 [5 of the last 6 are here referenced.]

F John 14:15 "If ye love me, keep my commandments." (Does this mean just the last six, the last five, or the last two?)

F vs. 21-24 "He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me. . . ."

F 15:10-14 "If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love. . . ."

1st Corinthians 7:19 "Circumcision . . . and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God."

(Ephesians 2:15) [Bible-rejecters and commandment-haters always leave out the "contained in ordinances" here.]

F 1st John 2:3 "And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments."

F v. 4 "He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him."

2nd John 6 "And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it." (You mean this isn’t some "new thing"?)

F Revelation 12:17 "And the dragon was wroth with the woman [Israel], and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ." (That is, Christians!)
