Luke 16:11 “If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?”
QUESTION: What is the true riches, here?
1st Timothy 6:20-21 “O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: which some professing have erred concerning the faith.”
2nd Timothy 1:14 “That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.”
QUESTION: What is Paul talking about that is “committed” to Timothy, that he should “keep”?
ANSWER: It is only one thing: the word of God.
1st Timothy 1:11 “According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.”
Romans 3:1-2 “What advantage then hath the Jew? . . . chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.”
2nd Corinthians 5:17-19 “. . . God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.”
Luke 8:11-15 “But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.”
11:27-28 “But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.”
John 14:23-24 “Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.”
QUESTION: Why do you suppose this verse doesn’t say, “If a man love me, he will understand my words.”
ANSWER: That would be nice! It might even be true; but it isn’t enough!
[There are all kinds of lawyers and doctors of the law who understand the American Constitution, but they don’t even remotely intend to keep it, because they hate it.]
2nd Corinthians 2:17 “For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God. . . .” (bible “critics” and their friends)
[Only the Authorized (or “King James”) has this verse intact. ALL of the other so-called “bibles” CORRUPTED it.]
(Those in the business of “revising” the bible for profit are not capable of getting a guilty conscience here, so instead of repenting at their evil, they tried to get rid of the verse that exposed them!)
Jeremiah 23:36 “. . . for every man’s word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted the words of the living God. . . .”
Papists, sodomites, atheists, liberals, and “New Agers” have corrupted biblical doctrine through their“revision committees”, while collecting royalties on their “improved versions”.
(Example of Logsdon concerning “letteth” in “NASB to KJV”, who decided to back another horse in “preferring’ the Authorized bible, but just doesn’t get it concerning the keeping of what is committed to us.)
(Example of the Lord’s way of thinking concerning Logsdon’s way of thinking:
James 2:10 “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”
Λ John 17:6-8 “. . . and they have kept thy word.” (Many phoney Christians REJECT his words which proves the point!)
(Matthew 7:16 “Ye shall know them by their fruits.)
Λ 2nd Timothy 3:15 “. . . from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures. . . .” (Not “the original plenary autographs”!)
(When Paul wrote this to Timothy, the “originals” no longer existed, but Timothy still KNEW “the holy scriptures”.)
[The word “scripture” (in one of its forms) is used 53 times in the bible and every time refers to COPIES held by the people, and never to any “originals.”
2nd Timothy 2:2 “And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.”
Revelation 1:3 “Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.”
3:10 “Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.”
(Practically everybody uses this verse as a proof-text to prove a “pre-trib rapture”, but:
(1) the people who do this, do not keep the Lord’s word, so the verse doesn’t apply to them in the first place , and
(2) they assume that “keep thee from” MEANS “you won’t see it” rather than “you won’t be overpowered by it.”
Luke 19:11-27 “he . . . spake a parable . . . because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.”
1st John 2:5 “But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.”
The Commandments (The commandments are simply a certain specific portion of the total word of God.”
Compare these two verses:
(1) Matthew 19:17 “And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.”
(2) Mark 7:9 “. . . Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.”
John 14:15 “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” [Compare this with John 14:23 above.]
15:10 “If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.”
QUESTION: Why do you suppose this verse does not say, “If ye know my commandments, ye shall abide in my love. . . .”?
ANSWER: Because that is a completely different statement, and it wouldn’t be true.
QUESTION: What is the difference between an eighteen year old boy hearing the commandments and memorizing them; and a ninety year old man on his death bed who kept those same commandments all his life in the love and fear of the Lord?
ANSWER: Ecclesiastes 7:8 “Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof. . . .”
1st John 2:3 “And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.”
v. 4 “He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.”
3:22 “And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.”
v. 24 “And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.”
5:2 “By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.”
v. 3 “For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.”
QUESTION: Why do you suppose this verse does not say, “For this is the love of God, that we know about his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.”?
John 14:21 “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.”
John 7:19 “Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me?”
(This is the Lord’s personal indictment of his murderers failure.)
Acts 7:51-53 “Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it.”
(This is the Lord’s indictment through Stephen against his murderers’ failure: “Thou shalt not kill.” – Exodus 20:13)
Revelation 14:12 “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.”
Revelation 22:6-9 “Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book. * * * Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.”
