Fruits of the Spirit

Matthew 7:15-20 “Ye shall know them by their fruits.”

Ezekiel 11:17-19 (prophecy for Israel) “and I will put a new spirit within you . . . and give them an heart of flesh. . . .”

(36:21-28 [repeated] “I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name’s sake. . . .”)

Psalm 78:5-8 “And might not be as their fathers . . . whose spirit was not stedfast with God.”

51:9-13 “Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation . . . Then will I teach . . . and sinners shall be converted unto thee.”

Matthew 12:30 “He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.”

Romans 15:14 “And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.”

Luke 9:25-26 “For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed. . . .”

[Does this mean that anybody who says “Jesus is the Lord” is “born again?”]

[Is Peter born again?]

Luke 22:31-32 “. . . and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.” (He will be, but he was not then.)

[Can a man do something “by the Holy Ghost,” yet not be born again?]

Numbers 24:1-2 “And Balaam lifted up his eyes . . . and the spirit of God came upon him.”

[Is Balaam born again?]

2nd Peter 2:15-17 “. . . Balaam . . . loved the wages of unrighteousness. . . .”

Revelation 2:14 “. . . Balaam . . . taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel. . . .”

Joshua 13:22 “Balaam also . . . did the children of Israel slay with the sword among [the enemy.]”

1st Samuel 10:9-12 “. . . and the Spirit of God came upon him [Saul], and he prophesied among them.”

11:6 “And the Spirit of God came upon Saul when he heard those tidings. . . .”

[Is Saul born again?]

15:22-31 (v.30) “I have sinned: yet honour me now. . . .” (What was wrong with Saul’s repentance?)

16:14 “But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord troubled him.”

(2nd Chronicles 15:1-2 “The Lord is with you, while ye be with him . . . but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.”)

Psalm 51:16-17 “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God thou wilt not despise.”

Proverbs 23:1-7 “. . . cease from thine own wisdom.”

(Matthew 3:1-2 John the baptist was a preacher, not a “pastor.”)

(The fruit of the Spirit of God in you will be that the world will despise you and will not hear you.)

1st John 4:5-6 “They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.”

(The fruit of being a phoney is that the world will love you, Billy Graham for example.)

Galatians 5:17-23 “love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance”

Ephesians 5:7-13 “For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth. . . .”

2nd Thessalonians 2:13 “. . . God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth. . . .”
