Abasing Ourselves

Matthew 23:1-12 “And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.”

Luke 1:51 “He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.”

18:9-14 “. . . every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.”

James 4:6 “God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.”

1st Peter 5:5 “Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.”

Daniel 4:1-37 “Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.”

1st Samuel 2:3 “Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.”

Psalm 17:10 “They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly.”

12:3 “The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things. . . .”

Proud Heart:

Matthew 12:34 “. . . out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.”

Proverbs 16:5 “Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.” (You can’t fix the problem by just making your words right.)

Psalm 101:5 “. . . him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer.”

Proverbs 15:25 “The Lord will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow.”
