Hell

Proverbs 27:12 “A prudent man forseeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the simple pass on, and are punished.”

[How are you going to “hide” from hell?]

Colossians 3:3 “For ye are dead , and your life is hid with Christ in God.”

(1) So-called “Scholars” say: “In the bible the word ‘hell’ is just a reference to ‘the grave.’”

(2) Men say: “Well, if there’s a hell, it’s right here on earth.”

[These men err, not knowing the scripture, but the confusion for some bible believers is compounded because there is partial truth to both statements:]

(1) “Death” and/or “the Grave” (The word “hell” is figuratively used this way occasionally.)

Jonah 2:1-2 “. . . out of the fish’s belly . . . out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.” (certain death)

Psalm 16:10 “For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell: neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.”

[This is a reference to “the grave.”)

139:7-8 “If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.” (of earth)

Proverbs 5:3-5 “Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.” (spiritual death)

7:27 “Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.” (spiritual hell)

9:13-18 “But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.”

(2) “Hell on Earth” (“Hell” is IN the earth, not ON it, and men have not known hell at all.)

Proverbs 15:24 “The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.”

(Colossians 3:1-2 “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”)

Revelation 9:1-3 “. . . there arose a smoke out of the pit. . . . And . . . out of the smoke locusts upon the earth. . . .”

Isaiah 14:9 “Hell from beneath is moved for thee. . . .”

v. 12-15 “Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.”

Revelation 20:1-3 “And he laid hold on the dragon . . . and cast him into the bottomless pit. . . .”

Orientation:

Amos 9:2 “Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them. . . .”

Numbers 16:30-33 “And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up . . . and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them. . . .” (a mass burial)

(Matthew 10:28 “. . . but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”)

Job 17:16 “They shall go down to the bars of the pit, when our rest together is in the dust.”

(Genesis 3:19 “. . . till thou return unto the ground . . . for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.”)

Ezekiel 31:10-18 “. . . for they are all delivered unto death, to the nether parts of the earth . . . down to the pit.”

32:17-30 “. . . nether parts of the earth . . . the pit . . . down . . . hell . . . graves . . . the sides of the pit. . . . ”

26:20 “. . . I shall bring thee down with them that descend into the pit, with the people of old time, and shall set thee in the low parts of the earth . . . with them that go down to the pit. . . .”

“Hell” as a “Kingdom”

Matthew 23:15 “. . . ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.” (that is, “the kingdom of hell”)

[The “kingdom of hell” reaches its zenith on earth with Satan’s people in charge of a world government (taught to believe there is no hell and no judgement) at which time Christians will finally figure out why they were told to set their affection on things above, and to hate this world.]
