Humanism

Humanism is the religion of the “New Age”, yet it is very old. Its believers have:

(1) fanatical “Optimism” (“We can have utopia on earth, if we all pull together!”);

(Men never learn anything from history, so, of course history is always repeated.)

(2) faith in “Evolution” above science, history, and common sense;

(The second law of thermodynamics (entropy) dictates that everything left to its own degrades: nothing ever improves when left to random chance and unsupervised circumstance.)

(3) faith in man; and

(Common sense tells anybody who has it that men are not capable of being gods or of building a utopia.)

(4) contempt of the God of the bible (while claiming atheism, and promoting all other forms of religion).

Three Instructive Verses:

Psalm 9:15-20 “Put them in fear, O Lord: that the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah.”

Romans 3:4 “. . . let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written. . . .”

Isaiah 31:3 “Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit.” (How about their tanks?)

A WAR BETWEEN TWO KINGDOMS

(1) Matthew 3:1-2 “Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

John 18:33-36 “Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.” (3 times)

(2) Matthew 12:22-28 (26) “And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?”

Revelation 16:10-11 “And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness. . . .”

TWO SEATS

(1) The Lord’s Seat:

Exodus 25:17 “And thou shalt make a mercy seat of pure gold. . . .” (Where God dwelt with Israel)

v. 22 “And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims . . . unto the children of Israel.”

(2) Satan’s Seat:

Revelation 2:12-13 “. . . where Satan’s seat is . . . where Satan dwelleth.” Satan has had his seat in several places:

Babylon, Nineveh, Egypt, Tyrus, Pergamos, Rome

UTOPIA: (Will always have (1) a “place” and (2) a “god” to rule over the place.)

(1) The “place” is planet earth, third rock from the sun.

(2) The “god” of this utopia is Satan the devil, “the god of this world”. (2nd Corinthians 4:4)

The “God” of Humanism:

(1) is a rebel against God, desiring to take the place of God and be worshipped as God; (vicarious feli dei) (sp)

Luke 4:6-7 “And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all [1] the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said unto him, All [2] this power will I give thee, and [3] the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.”

(Compare with:)

Matthew 6:13 “. . . For thine is [1] the kingdom, and [2] the power, and [3] the glory, for ever. Amen.”

(2) leads men into rebellion against God;

Genesis 3:1-5 “. . . your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”

2nd Peter 2:1-9 “The Lord knoweth how to . . . reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished . . . chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government.” (The question here is, “which government?”)

Χ Isaiah 9:6-7 “For unto us . . . a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder. . . .”

Χ Acts 5:17-29 “Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.”

(3) promises men liberty (You can do your own thing.); and

2nd Peter 2:19 “While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.”

(4) is a liar.

John 8:44 “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”

(1st John 2:4 “He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.”)

Babylon One

Genesis 10:1-10 “He was a (1) mighty (2) hunter (3) before the Lord: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the Lord.” (The word “hunter” is used only two other places in the bible and is a euphemism for evil.)

(1) Genesis 6:1-4 “. . . the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.” [They had respect of men.]

[This is the first time the word “mighty” is used.]

10:8-9 “Nimrod . . . began to be a mighty one in the earth . . . a mighty hunter before the Lord. . . .”

[This is the second time.]

11:1-8 “So the Lord scattered them . . . and they left off to build the city.”

vs. 9 “Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language. . . .”

[The Lord didn’t want this thing to turn into a great and mighty nation, yet. Why?]

18:18 Because: “. . . Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation. . . .”

[According to the Lord’s promise.]

12:1-3 “. . . I will make of thee a great nation, and I will . . . make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing. . . .”

[The citizens of Babylon have always rejected this: they are anti-Semitic.]

Exodus 1:7 “And the children of Israel . . . waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.”

[But, by the hand of the Lord, it came to pass anyway!]

(2) Genesis 25:27 “And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter. . . .”

(Romans 9:13 “As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.”)

Malachi 1:1-4 “. . . I hated Esau . . . They shall build, but I will throw down. . . .”

Proverbs 6:5 “Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.”

(3) Genesis 13:13 “But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly.”
